Message by Dean of Medical Education

Dear Prospective Students,

Xavier University School of Medicine in Bonaire realizes the importance of building a strong foundation in the basic sciences, as well as the clinical sciences in order to become a well-rounded physician. The time spent during medical school is a critical phase in which students must understand and grasp the knowledge needed to succeed in the field of medicine.

Dedication, desire, and discipline are the key ingredients needed to fulfil the ultimate goal of becoming a physician. This is what we exemplify and expect in all of our students. The goal for our students is not only to understand the foundations of medicine, but also to become confident in their knowledge and have compassion for their patients. This will allow them to overcome all that lies ahead of them in their chosen career. Our experienced faculty understands what it takes to become a competent and diligent physician. Educating as well as training our students is a progression. At Xavier University School of Medicine in Bonaire, the focus is on developing these key characteristics within our students so they evolve into distinguished physicians.

Our facilities and campus are conducive to a strong learning environment. Our excellent track record of our graduates getting into residency allows us to feel confident. Students not only will benefit from great learning atmosphere, but a personal relationship with the faculty and administration. The campus has fiber optic wireless internet. It also has a recreation room for a study break, or time in between classes to relax. There are extended campus hours, so students can study in the Study Lounge over the weekends. Medical school does involve a lot of hard work and studying, but our Student Government Association plans numerous extracurricular activities each semester allowing for a break from the grind of medical school.

Welcome to Xavier University School of Medicine, I look forward to meeting you.
